Jacqueline’s hand-built sculptures in clay are focused on those species with which humans have developed strong relationships over the millennia through working and living in close proximity.
Her first-hand observation of the natural behaviours of animal species, particularly horses and dogs, help her to create naturalistic ceramic sculptures that resonate with our long-standing and deeply entwined relationship with these animals.
As a printmaker Jacqueline works using a variety of printmaking techniques including intaglio, woodcut and monoprint. Her work explores animal forms most particularly, horses and dogs. Through her exploration of the equine form she hopes to develop a greater understanding of these elegant, powerful and sensitive creatures. An awareness of the toll that chemicals have on the natural environment has led Jacqueline to adopt non-toxic printmaking techniques, which combine the use of new technologies with traditional techniques to produce a safer and less toxic method of producing intaglio prints. Jacqueline was a long-standing member of Blackstack Studio in Kilkenny, Ireland until it’s closure in June 2020.
